Former Pars favourite, Jackie Sinclair has died at t

The Club is saddened to hear of the death of former Pars favourite, Jackie Sinclair on 1st September at the age of 67.  Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Jackie Sinclair was one of Jock Stein's first signings. He was signed in July 1960 from Blairhall Colliery and made his first team debut at the age of 17 in a 1-0 win at Airdrie on 10 April 1961 but had to wait until November to make his second appearance. On that occasion he hit a hat-trick in the 6 - 2 win over Airdrie at East End Park.

He made an equally big impact on his European debut against Valencia in December 1962 when, 4-0 down from the first leg the Pars took their inspiration from their teenage wingers Jackie and Alex Edwards, to record a sensational 6 - 2 win with Jackie scoring twice.

As well as possessing all the mesmerising footwork that small Scottish wingers are supposed to have, Jackie was just as good at cutting inside and going for goal himself. In 1964-65 he was Scotland's top goal scoring winger with 20 goals and produced one of his best performances in the Scottish Cup semi final victory over Hibs.

That summer Jackie made a £30,000 move to Leicester City where he earned his only Scotland cap in a Friendly against Portugal. Later he helped Newcastle United lift the 1968-69 Fairs Cup before his travels led him back to East End Park in 1973 for two more seasons. He scored his fourth hat-trick for the Club against Hearts in 1974, scoring after only 7 seconds to equal Dunfermline's fastest ever goal.

Along with Charlie Dickson,, Jackie is the only Pars player to net hat-tricks in all three of the major Scottish competitions and, for a winger, recorded an impressive 64 goals in 165 appearances.
