Dunfermline have had the upper hand in league matches against Stirling Albion but not by much. A Kevin Harper hat trick won the Tuesday evening match the last time Dunfermline were in Stirling but primarily due to lack of fixtures, the Fifers previous win up in Stirling up until then was more than sixteen years ago when Craig Robertson and Scott Leitch were the scorers.

Dunfermline v Stirling

Dunfermline defeated Stirling Albion 3-0 in the 2008-09 Alba Challenge Cup at East End Park but these sides have only shared the same league once since 1993-94 season. That was in 2007-08 when the Pars won three and lost one.  The 3-0 defeat at Forthbank was under Manager Stephen Kenny and was one of a number of results that led to his departure.

Stirling Albion and Alloa Athletic both ended on 65 points at top of the Second Division last season but the Stirling goal difference was +20 to Alloa`s +14.  The Wasps lost their play off semi final against Cowdenbeath and the Blue Brazil went on to get the better of Brechin City as well to come up to the First Division as well.

It`s early days yet in this league campaign but Dunfermline do not want to trail Raith and Stirling will not want to get detached at the foot.  As Jim McIntyre constantly reminds everyone there are not easy games in the First Division so this should still be a match with plenty to contest.
