Manager on Friday
Friday, 13th Aug 201013/08/10: "It will be a whole new ball game, there are new players there but we know what we are going to get. They are going to be well organised and they are going to be in our faces....
Jim McIntyre expects a difficult game from Morton on Saturday:-
"We had them watched during the week and they did very well. The result against Ross County wasn't a fair reflection on the game especially after doing so well in the first half.
"They drew 1-1 with Stirling Albion on the opening day of the season. They have added some quality signings - boys who know the league, Stewart Kean and Kevin Kelbie. Graeme Holmes we know very well, he has been doing well and we are delighted for him. I just hope that he can stay fit but we want to give him a sad face tomorrow. "
Last season the Pars took maximum 12 points off Morton but with Allan Moore arriving at Cappielow, Macca quickly dismissed the record:-
"Last season is last season, this is this season and there is a new manager there. They will be out to impress him so It will be a whole new ball game, there are new players there but we know what we are going to get. They are going to be well organised and they are going to be in our faces. They have some players who can hurt you - that's this division, that's the way it is. Weatherson came on as a sub on Tuesday night and caused problems."
Dunfermline were subjected to 120 minutes and penalties on Tuesday night. They followed that with a very light session on Thursday ahead of their normal Friday session which is nothing too heavy.
"They will be 100% ready to go come three o'clock on Saturday, fitness will not be a problem."
The Manager was still disappointed at losing out in the Alba Challenge Cup:-
"We lost the game, although it was in a penalty shoot out but we were more disappointed with the manner in which we played. We didn't pass the ball with enough purpose or tempo - that's what let us down."
Coming after the euphoria of the Falkirk match the show on Tuesday night was unwelcome:-
"It is easy to make sure that you are right on when there is a big crowd but we need to make sure when it is against the smaller clubs that we create the tempo and we create the atmosphere to get fans turning up to get right behind us.
"I am hoping for bigger numbers than last year. We took a big support through to Falkirk, it was a great result with a feel good factor and I hope that the punters will be out in force on Saturday. We need them, fans are important."
Steven McDougall is struggling to be fit to face Morton but the Manager confirmed that Pat Clarke is fine. Alex Burke has had a good week of hard running and twisting and turning. He will join in training next week. Having missed out almost the entire pre season Willie Gibson is still behind but working hard after training to catch up.
