Joe Cardle Post Arbroath
Monday, 2nd Aug 2010"I was getting on the ball a lot more in the second half, making chances for other people and creating chances for myself. I laid a couple on for Kirkie. It was a good day all round."
Joe Cardle felt that Paul Willis' goal with 15 minutes to go was just what the Pars needed to go on knock Arbroath out of the Co-operative Insurance Cup. The final of the five Joe was claiming by the opposition defender Stuart Malcolm was the more likely goalscorer:-
"Hopefully I will get it, it was was reaching the the far post and the boy just put it in the corner. It is up to the referee, fingers crossed I get it.
"It is always going to be tight against teams like that; you are not going to much space on the ball. We came out well after their goal, I wasn't expecting them to get the header from the corner but we scored two minutes later. It was a tight game at that stage but we pushed on, as we had to do, in the second half.
"I was getting on the ball a lot more in the second half, making chances for other people and creating chances for myself. If I get the one that will be one today and laid a couple on for Kirkie. It was a good day all round."
Joe just wants to see Dunfermline quietly build up a league campaign that will be an improvement on 2009-10:-
"We were never in the top two all season but with the team we have we have just got to get our heads down, work as hard as we can in training. That is what we have done for the last couple of weeks; even the performances against Aberdeen, Hearts and again against Arbroath show what we can do. We just have to keep on doing that now because we have a strong team."
