Manager on Friday
Friday, 30th Jul 201030/07/10 JM:- "You don't get any two games the same, it will be a really difficult game.
Jim McIntyre gave an update on his injury list:-
"Steven Bell is out with an Achilles injury he picked up last Saturday and Willie Gibson is back running. He has been running all week - like a mini pre-season. Willie will be in tomorrow for another hard session and he might start joining in with the other players next week.Alex Burke is struggling with his calf."The Manager confirmed that it would be difficult finding games for him now that the friendlies are over.
"He will just need to pick it up as he goes along."
There was disappointment at both clubs no doubt when they were paired together in the Co-operative Cup just a week after meeting in the Alba Challenge Cup but at least Jim McIntyre knows what the expect:-
"Arbroath were well organised, hard to break down and they have a couple of tricky players, so it will be hard. You don't get any two games the same, it will be a really difficult game. If we can play and pass the ball with a tempo then hopefully on the day our better players can make it happen.
One visitor to East End tomorrow with Arbroath tomorrow who wasn't there last Saturday will be Jim Hamilton. The former Dunfermline striker will no doubt get the usual warm welcome:-
"He used to pester the life out of me in the dressing room, hopefully he won't do that as an opposition player!" He's a good lad - he's signed for his 400th club! We know what Hammy brings - he's an experienced player and we will need to keep an eye on him "
Macca was really pleased with the midweek game against Hearts.
"I made six changes and the boys that came in showed a hunger and a desire, I was very pleased. It was a good chance to get them minutes under their belt and a lot of them showed up well."
So does that give him something extra to think about for Saturday:-
"Yes, obviously and that's why these games are there. It brings players into the forefront of the Manager's mind really."
The Manager confirmed that the Alba Challenge Cup game v Queen of the South would be played at East End Park on Tuesday 10th August with a 7.45pm kick off we and hoped for a better result third time around.
