Pat Clarke Post Arbroath
Saturday, 24th Jul 2010"It is good to get the competitive games started. I had a few chances but I am still thinking about that back-heeler.
Pat Clarke is pleased to be back at Dunfermline and he is disappointed that it wasn't a scoring debut:-
"It is good to get the competitive games started. I had a few chances but I am still thinking about that back-heeler. The ball broke and it was just the quickest way to get my shot off. On another day it might have gone in, I was just a bit unlucky.
"We had a few good chances and maybe more of them could have gone in but the win is the main thing."
Pat's move to Dunfermline only came about nine days ago but the 25 year old feels that he has settled in well:-
"I have not been here long but I know most of the boys already with playing against them over the years. Now I am just focussing on working hard. I still want to get fitter since that's only my second ninety minutes in God knows how long. I missed a lot of football last year so I just want to get as many minutes under my belt as possible. If I can get fitter and sharper then hopefully the goals will come."
Pat did pre season training at Dundee before he made the move back to the club where he played his youth football. Now he feels that it's only at matter of time before he can get it together with the other strikers at Dunfermline:-
"We just need game time together to learn each other's game. Already there are wee signs that Andy Kirk and I could develop a partnership, he is a good player and took his goal well today. He was top scorer here last season so he is a good player to work with."
Good strikers need good service and Pat is confident that at Dunfermline he is well placed to receive the balls he needs:-
"The wingers at this club are up there with the best in the league, if not the best, so getting balls suits my game to a tee to get great chances."
Next week's Co-operative Insurance Cup will bring Arbroath back to East End Park and Pat continued:-
"It will be a completely different game; we can't expect them to play the same again. I don't know what will happen, it is just a case of working in midweek and starting afresh for next week."
