Dargo wishes Dumbarton well after Saturday
Saturday, 24th Nov 2012"We picked ourselves up last week and it is important to collect three points this week."
Craig Dargo is hoping that his team will continue to show the same commitment as worked last week on Raith Rovers. After the disappointing defeat at Firhill that let Partick Thistle jump above them to the top of the league, the win in the Fife Derby at Starks Park was the perfect anecdote:-
"I felt that we deserved the three points. It looked like they had been told to get in about us right from the start. They were making a few rash tackles and we were in control of the game. We expected to go there and get a tough battle and they did that straight away. Once they had a couple of yellow cards they could not play like that for the whole 90 minutes.
"We went 1-0 down but showed great character. After the previous week it would have been easy for the heads to go down but we got a goal back straight away which was excellent."
It all became easier after Raith's centre half Dougie Hill collected a second yellow for a bust up in the tunnel on the way in at the half time break:-
"I was warming up and didn't know anything about it but then with Joe scoring his goal so early it calmed things right down and made it a lot easier for us. At eleven v nine you are expected to dominate and we did but it can be difficult."
Craig says that it is important that Dunfermline continue their run and not slip up against the bottom of the table club under new management.
"I know things have not been going too well for Dumbarton and I do wish them all the best this season; obviously not on Saturday. If we can keep our form going then winning can become a habit. We picked ourselves up last week and it is important to collect three points this week."
Caretaker Manager Jack Ross has returned to his assisting duties with the appointment of Ian Murray and although Craig keeps in touch with Jack they have not touched based in the run up to the meeting: "I was delighted when he got his first points."
Ian Murray at Dunfermline in pre season
Murray was on trial at Dunfermline in pre season and he will know a number of the Dunfermline players although they are a much better constructed side than the raw ones he played in at the beginning of the season. Another former Par, Steven McDougall should be in the Dumbarton squad, Craig Dargo and Andy Geggan are former Sons, so it's bound to be a match with plenty of interest.
When Saturday's match is over Craig will move on to concentrate on his coaching role alongside John Potter for Sunday's Youth Cup tie against Montrose at East End Park (Kick off 2.00pm).
"I am looking forward to that and it is good that it is a home tie as well. It is a chance to get into the next round of the cup, the boys have been playing well recently so I'd fancy us. Hopefully the fans will turn out and show their support for the young team who have been doing well in the SPL Under 20 League. It is always nice to play in front of a crowd. There is talent coming through the Club at the moment and we are in a sound place so they would appreciate some support."
