Preview Dumbarton
Wednesday, 21st Nov 2012The Pars have won the last nine meetings and at East End Park the sides have not met on league business for over sixteen years.
This Saturday Dunfermline welcome Dumbarton to East End Park for the first time since April 1996. The teams are at opposing poles in the First Division but there is great incentives for them both. Jack Ross` side won their first league game two Saturdays ago at Cowdenbeath so they will be encouraged by that and of course, Jim Jefferies men will not be wanting to slip up and keep right up with leaders on goal difference, Partick Thistle.

The Pars have won the last nine meetings and at East End Park the sides have not met on league business for over sixteen years.. The 1996 win was courtesy of two goals from Andy Smith and one each from Allan Moore and Hamish French. The result left Dunfermline two games away from promotion that was sealed in subsequent weeks with wins over Dundee United and Airdrie. The last home defeat at the hands of the Sons was on 8th October 1986.

Dumbarton have lost four of their six away games this season but they appear to like coming to Fife. A draw with the Rovers was followed up with a win at Central Park. The Pars have failed to take full points at home from Partick Thistle and Morton

The Pars face this game on a fine away win over Raith Rovers. Any confidence that Dumbarton took from their win at Cowdenbeath was well and truly squashed by Morton on Saturday who won 5-1 with former Pars hero Martin Hardie netting two.
