Manager on Friday
Friday, 16th Jul 201016/07/10:- "We have got good players here - I am pleased with the squad that I have got and I am confident that we can do well.
Jim McIntyre told the website at lunchtime that he is very much looking forward to Saturday's match against a Manchester United XI:-
"It will be a great game to be involved in, albeit it is not their first team but you can be guaranteed that they will be the best set of youngsters going about. It will be great for us to have that game.
"We will be looking for an improvement from Tuesday night. We never passed the ball well, we never defended well as a team which is not like us at all. We need to work harder off the ball and get our shape back. That is what hurt us against East Fife but that is what pre season is all about. It is about getting these things ironed out and the fitness to be ready for the real stuff. That's what we are gearing towards although we don't want to lose four goals to anybody.
"It is important that we are hitting peak form for the 24th and the Falkirk game. That's when things get real. We need to iron out the mistakes and they have got to learn, if they don't learn from them then you try somebody else there. We have got good players here - I am pleased with the squad that I have got and I am confident that we can do well.
"We know that we are playing top quality opposition in the next three games - Man United, Aberdeen and Hearts but it is all about getting as much fitness out of it as we can and trying to play better as a team."
Macca was delighted to bring in another striker in Pat Clarke:-
"He is a player I chased last year but he chose to go to Dundee which was his perogative; you cannot blame him with the money they were throwing about. He came available this year again and I knew that he wasn't in Gordon (Chisholm')'s plans - they were healthy for strikers. We made an inquiry and the deal was done pretty quickly so I am delighted to have him."
The Pars gaffer could see that Pat could finish:-
"He has always known where the net is against Dunfermline when we played him at Clyde. He is a player who has always caused problems. He has decent pace and can use that to run in behind. It's another type of player. He has an eye for goal and is different to Kirkie, McDougall and Graham.
"He is also decent in the air which we will need with Graham Bayne now moving on. He brings an aerial threat as well."
