Dunfermline Athletic

First Interview with Alex Keddie

Wednesday, 26th May 2010

"Obviously the Manager has seen something in me that I can add to the team and that can only be good. He has said that he is looking forward to working with me."

Alex Keddie

Alex Keddie's contract with Ross County ended on 16th May and he was more than happy to commit his future to Jim McIntyre's Dunfermline:-.

"After speaking to the Manager, we both liked what each other had to say so I decided to pledge my future to Dunfermline.I enjoyed every minute at Ross County, but my family and my fianc?e are all from Cumbernauld, so I had to come back down the road at some point and thank goodness it was at this point of my career.  It was four long years in Dingwall, but I enjoyed every minute of it.It's a lovely club and I think it gets underestimated a lot by other people. It was a fantastic place to play football, and the people are good.

SEASON 201011 BE PART OF IT!

"Last season was one of the best seasons of my life. Obviously beating Celtic in the semi-final at Hampden and then playing Dundee United in the Final but never got the result we wanted.  It was a fantastic experience that will live with me for the rest of my life.  The whole town was involved, it was crazy, Ross County may never experience that again.  Hopefully, I will bring that wee bit of luck with me and experience to Dunfermline."

So what did Alex feel he could bring to Dunfermline?

"I think it is a very good team as it is, but hopefully I will bring that little bit extra.  What that is yet I don't know yet, as the team is full of good footballers.  Obviously the Manager has seen something in me that I can add to the team and that can only be good.  He has said that he is looking forward to working with me and hopefully we can progress from last season."

Could Dunfermline improve on their 2009-10 season?

"Every year you need to progress so after finishing third this year, hopefully second or even one better. It is a tough, tough league and it all depends on what you are doing week in and week out and hopefully give the fans what they deserve, the Premier League.  It's going to be another tough season ahead but I am sure the manager and the players will be working in the right direction."

Player Sponship 1011 NEW

Alex Keddie is good friends with Andy Dowie from his days at Ross County and faced Dunfermline in two of the four games last season:-

"I thought they were a good footballing side, passed the ball well and made plenty of chances.  I think in some games you have to do the ugly side and that's maybe something they have not done in the past.  Maybe we can bring that to this season and hopefully take a step forward.

"Inverness didn't lose a lot of games away from home last season, they didn't win many but they didn't lose and I think that is the key to win your home games, and not get beat in your away games.  If you can win 6, 7, 8 games in a row then you will be up there or thereabouts. You have to continually do that over tough periods when you have injuries and all the other things that come along in football.  I think if we can keep the team fit, and go in the right direction, then hopefully it will be alright.

"If you have 18 players, then you need those 18 players be looking after themselves, not just at the football club but away from it as well to stay clear of injury.  Sometimes injuries can't be helped, but sometimes if you look after yourself in the right way they can certainly be avoided."
