David Graham Post Ayr United
Monday, 12th Apr 2010"You'd rather be playing well and missing chances rather than not getting the chances at all.
David Graham missed enough chances to have given him a double hat-trick on Saturday but despite that he was still possibly the Pars best player
"You have got to be there to miss them I suppose but I was disappointed that I didn't get on the scoresheet given the amount of chances I had. Maybe it needs a wee bit more luck and a wee bit more conviction from me. The goalie pulled off a good save maybe the next time I am there four or five will go in."
So is it frustrating to David and his team mates when good performances don't translate into impressive scorelines:-
"You'd rather be playing well and missing chances rather than not getting the chances at all. We have just got to work on it and hopefully we will get that we bit of luck. Maybe one day we will get the 6 or 7-1 that we deserve."
The 26 year old who joined Dunfermline from Hamilton in January last year realised that all the misses could have been costly had a 93rd minute chance been taken by Ayr:-
"Big Kevin James had a chance at the end, if he had scored that it would have summed up our season. We just don't finish teams off but luckily he put it over the bar and we got the victory."
Ayr were fighting for their First Division lives on Saturday but David confirmed that Jim McIntyre;s team won't be lying down to any of their opponents in the run in:-
"Ayr had plenty to play for but we didn't want folk thinking we came here with nothing to play for and Ayr would take the points. The gaffer is at us to beat the points barrier, beat the goals from last season. We will fight right up to the end of the season and we could have quite a say in who gets relegated and obviously we play Inverness next in a massive game. We can't go up there and surrender and give them the three points."
David felt that some progress had been made this season:-
"When I came in last season we played a bit of hot and cold - not as much as this year - but this year there are a lot of younger lads who are a lot fitter and sharper. They get the ball down and play, and we play with proper wingers - I think that helps us. We are a good counterattacking team and we can control games, we just need to finish it off and then maybe next year we will challenge for the title."
David signed a two year extension to his contract earlier this year and he was happy to do so:-
"They are a good bunch of boys and the gaffer is playing the style of football where I see a lot of the ball. It is good for me, I enjoy it and long may it continue."
