Gary Mason Post Raith
Monday, 22nd Mar 2010"We need to concentrate on ourselves and not worry about everybody else. At the end of the day whatever happens happens. We need to try and keep winning as many games as we can.
Gary Mason described the win at Raith Rovers on Saturday as a great three points but he was already looking ahead to the Partick match on Tuesday as he echoed the players motto "we will just take it one game at a time".
Gary ducked numerous invitations from the media to press him into title race speculation:-
"We have picked up a lot of important points recently, obviously the team are on a wee bit of a high, hopefully that will continue."
Since he arrived at East End Park in February the 30 year old midfielder claimed that no targets are being set.
"We need to concentrate on ourselves and not worry about everybody else. At the end of the day whatever happens happens. We need to try and keep winning as many games as we can.
"There are still loads of points to play for and there are a lot of teams around about the first four places. They are all important games and we knew it was going to be a tough game coming here after getting the result on Tuesday. We have down that and we will rest up while looking forward to another one on Tuesday."
While not wanting to talk about promotion Gary agreed that the dream at Dunfermline is to get back to SPL football.
"There is no doubt about that, ask anyone that's where you want to play. But we just need to focus on the job in hand and take it game by game. We need to do our talking on the park."
Six points against local rivals sent the home happy and Gary said his team mates are truly buzzing without allowing themselves to get carried away.
Gary wasn't close enough to the incident to pass any comment on the red card decision that turned out to be a defining moment in the match. Raith were looking for a penalty but instead referee Scott MacDonald sent Stephen Simmons off. Equally important was Gary's second goal since returning to Dunfermline:-
"It was nice but it was one of those that could have ended up in row Z but obviously I managed to catch it decent. The keeper dived but it went under him and I was delighted to see it going in."
Raith's equaliser just confirmed how difficult it is for eleven to play ten:-
"They did get their goal and made it tough after that but luckily we got a really great goal to win it. Ross Campbell played a great flick on and it was a good finish."
