Andy Dowie Post Ayr
Sunday, 21st Feb 2010"If you had seen us in the first half up at Ross County then seen us here - it's two different teams although it's the same players playing."
Andy Dowie summed up the feelings of the Dunfermline players after the disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Ayr United:-
"These are games that we should be winning, our performance simply wasn't good enough. Every one of us needs to buck up our ideas if we want to be playing here."
Ayr United put in a gritty performance that appeared to totally unsettle the free flowing football that the Pars had shown last week in Dingwall. 26 year old Andy could not come up with an answer to why that had been the case:-
"We imagined that they would make it hard for us to break them down. We created a few chances but nothing like what we normally do.
"If you had seen us in the first half up at Ross County then seen us here - it's two different teams although it's the same players playing."
Yet Dunfermline started the game well and no one could have foreseen such a shocking defeat.:-
"The Manager said that for the first ten minutes we looked bright and as though we were going to dominate. But it just did not turn out that way and we can only apologise to the fans for that performance.
"The month of March is going to be important because there are so many home games coming up. The plan was to win them but we got off to a bad start. We need to pick ourselves up for Monday morning, keep training hard and look forward to the game on Saturday."
The Dunfermline players took some time to emerge from the dressing room for their warm down after the game. Andy who has started every Pars match since the end of August, gave a little insight into what had been said:-
"The Manager is just as disappointed as the rest of us. It is so frustrating for him to see us play so well one week and then go to playing like that. We need to get back to some consistency. Everyone of us is really disappointed with our performance as individuals and as a team."
