Nick Phinn Post Ross County

"This is the worst I have ever felt after a game. It feels worse than getting hammered 6-0.

Nick Phinn may have had two goals to celebrate on Saturday but it was a very subdued 21 year old who discussed the draw at Dingwall after his warm down:-

"It doesn't count for much now after that second half. It is just such a hard one to take especially after putting in one of our best performances of the season in the first half. Everything just seemed to go for us but the gaffer warned us that they would come out in the second half with all guns blazing. I'm sure that their manager would have had words with his players at half time and it was just a game of two halves.

"The early goal gave them the momentum to go on and push for the equaliser and we never really got going at all. It was inevitable." 

Even after Ross County got their 85th minute equaliser with Steven Watt scoring his first ever goal for the Staggies, Dunfermline pressed for a third. There was one almighty scramble in the home penalty box that provoked appeals for a spot kick:-

"From where I was standing it looked like a stonewall penalty when the boy came in from behind 'Homer' and wiped him out. Obviously the ref has not seen it the way I have and there's not much you can do about that now. That's just the way it goes, sometimes you get them sometimes you don't."

For the Pars midfielder it was a very disappointing end to a day in the Highlands that had looked so good up to four o'clock:-

"This is the worst I have ever felt after a game. It feels worse than getting hammered 6-0. We had played so well but even after we had been warned that Ross County would come out like that, we just never coped."

In Andy Kirk's absence Nick Phinn was the player in the starting eleven who had scored the most goals for the club and it was important that he assumed the responsibility to hit the net.

"This season I have not scored as many goals as I would have liked to but from a personal point of view it was great to get two and get back on the goal trail. Unfortunately it doesn't count for much at the end of the day. It would have been great to score and come away with the three points."
