Manager Post Celtic

Sunday, 7th Feb 2010

07/02/10 JM:- "We tried to play it on the deck, passing and moving it, and I thought some of the stuff cut Celtic open at times especially in the first half.

Jim McIntyre commented after being knocked out of the Active Nations Scottish Cup:-

"Celtic are a quality team but I was really pleased by the way we came back in to the game after losing the early goal. To then take the lead didn't surprise me because we had our tails up at the time. After we scored we sat too deep, Celtic controlled the game again and got the goal before half time. It would have been nice to go in at half time in front."

At 2-1 it was looking good for an upset but Macca added:-

"I told the players before the game that you have got believe that you can get a result here today, if you don't then you can end up on the end of a hiding. That's the quality that you are facing but I was very pleased with the way they approached the game."

The Pars Manager didn't consider his players could have given him much more.

"That would be me expecting a bit too much. We could have been a wee bit braver on the ball going forward in the second half but that is really nitpicking.

"We tried to play it on the deck, passing and moving it, and I thought some of the stuff cut Celtic open at times especially in the first half. It was nice to see an end product for that."

The introduction of Robbie Keane for the second half injected class far beyond what Dunfermline are accustomed to in the First Division:-

"You could see his quality when he came on. His movement was fantastic and he gave us problems when he was dropping into the hole and linking the play. Celtic really had their tails up after the two goals. They have won 4-2 and congratulations to them, I'm sure that they will be there or thereabouts.

Asked if there was any doubt about the penalty that gave Celtic the chance to go into a two goal lead:-

"Austin (McCann) is claiming that he got the ball so I'd have to see it again."

The Manager praised the large Dunfermline support:-

"I thought the fans were fantastic, they were right up for the game and both sets made it a great atmosphere - a great game for the players to play in."
