Fife Police have decided that the match cannot go ahead today due to a severe weather warning from the Met Office for heavy snow later in the day.
DAFC would like to thank their ground staff and stadium manager who have worked extremely hard over the last few days to have the pitch pass a morning inspection. At the time the decision was made (10.00am) conditions at the stadium and on the surrounding roads and paths were fine.
Stadium Manager, Kenny Arnott has had six staff members working on the pitch since Tuesday. With the help of the underground heating that has consumed 13,000 litres of oil in the same period, the his staff have been on top of the conditions. They were in on New Years Day and the players trained on the pitch.
On Saturday morning Kenny and his team were in at 6.00am and were confident the pitch was playable. The Police received a severe weather warning from the Met Office via email this morning that predicted heavy snow with drifting.
For the club it is a major disappointment, not just for the Manager and players but for hospitality that has been fully booked now for months. 360 were expected in the Kingdom Suite and The Gallery. Photographs on the web album show the big dismantling job in the Kingdom Suite where all the tables had just been set.
As yet there is no news of when the re-arranged game will be played.
