Goalkeeper Chris Smith has broken his foot. The stopper came to Dunfermline on an emergency loan from St Mirren after first choice keeper Greg Fleming dislocated a finger, but after suffering a stress fracture to his right foot he has returned to the Paisley club.
Jim McIntyre said:-
"We've had a disaster goalkeeping wise with Chris Smith breaking his foot, It's a real blow as I thought he has been magnificent and was great to have about the place?he's an excellent keeper and showed what a good goalie he will be."
The injury means a will be out for four to eight weeks lay off for the keeper who first felt a problem with his foot in training last Thursday but it wasn't until it was scanned on Tuesday that the fracture was confirmed. He commented:-
"This just sums up what has been a terrible year for me. I was really enjoying getting first team football and doing well with Dunfermline. I felt it last Thursday and mentioned that it felt a bit funny to the Dunfermline physio on Friday, but then played the game on Saturday. However, I mentioned it again after the game and the physio suggested I get a scan.
"I'd been out for months at St Mirren with knee ligament problems before and now lady luck has struck again?it's my standing foot so it is a nightmare."
