Andy Dowie Post Ross County

"They have done well to clear two off the line and we could have stretched the advantage. Having said that we should have made sure that we kept a clean sheet in the second half, that would have won us the game.

Andy Dowie said that everybody connected with Dunfermline was hoping for a victory over Ross County and as a defender he was obviously extremely disappointed to lose three goals. After three years up north playing for the opposition he was equally disappointed not to get one over his old club:-

"We were especially disappointed with the manner we lost the first. The second two sometimes you can't do much about ones like them. They were wonder strikes that probably nine times out of ten end up in the stand. Today they ended up in the top corner."

Andy was aware of the danger Paul Lawson shooting from distance. The scorer of County's second goal popped that in from 30 yards and Andy admitted to having seen his former team mate do that before:-

"Maybe once a season he will score a goal like that, unfortunately it was against us. I am pleased to see Ross County doing well this season but rather we had taken three points off them. I thought that we played well over all and were unlucky not to get the victory.

"We dug in and played good stuff that we know we can play. We were getting the ball out to the wide areas where we generally hurt teams that we play."

The 26 year old defender who has played 11 games since signing from the Dingwall club in the summer agreed that Dunfermline should maybe have taken chances to extend their lead at 3-2:-

"They have done well to clear two off the line and we could have stretched the advantage. Having said that we should have made sure that we kept a clean sheet in the second half, that would have won us the game. We couldn't do that so we just need to take the point and crack on to next week.

"In the end our goalkeeper made two good saves and we have had two good efforts cleared off the line. Who knows what the score might have been. Chris Smith has good experience having played in the Premierleague even though he is still quite young. He is very vocal that obviously helps defenders and he has settled in well."

Eleven points behind the league leaders, Andy feels that Dunfermline need to collect more than one point from home games:-

"Hopefully we can get a run of victories starting next week against Inverness because we don't want Dundee getting too far away from us. We need to stay on their tail and try and push."
