Managers Post Ross County

12/12/09: JM "We made the chances to kill the game off but we never took them. I am not going to blame Andy Kirk - he had two cleared off the line.

Jim McIntyre felt that his side gave away another cheap goal to allow Ross County to take an early lead from the penalty spot:-

"The first one was so, so slack. We should be clearing our lines there and not trying to play on the edge of our box. There is a time and a place for that and it is not there. We gave them a lift right away but credit to them the boy scored a worldie for their second although I thought it was a free kick but we never got it. It was a fantastic finish.

"I thought the goals we scored from our attacking play were excellent. Andy Kirk was ruthless in the first half and Gibson's finish was superb as well. When we went in (at half time) we thought 'keep a clean sheet and we will win the game'.

Andy Kirk is denied a hattrick

"We should have had the game buried when we got a couple of good chances, Kirkie has put his hand up to say that he should have scored at one of them but we had two or three off the line as well. Our keeper has had to make two or three off the line, it was end to end stuff at times.

"Giving away cheap goals anytime, whether you are fighting relegation or building a promotion run is sore to take. We have not done it for a long time but they showed their character to come back and go in 3-2 at the break. That was really pleasing.

"We made the chances to kill the game off but we never took them. I am not going to blame Andy Kirk - he had two cleared off the line - he beat the goalie but it was good defending from Ross County's point of view. He will admit that he should have scored the other one himself but you have got to look at his two finishes in the first half. They were fantastic finishes from two great footballing moves. There was no blame attached to him."

Austin McCann v Ross County

Ross County Manager, Derek Adams thought it had been a great game of football where his team had chances at the end that could have won them the game.

"We didn't do that but it was a good spectacle for everybody. We had more opportunities to win the game than Dunfermline; we have had more one on one opportunities and their goalkeeper had more saves than Michael McGovern has had but Michael made a great save as well.

"We have come to East End Park and taken a point but we probably should have taken the three points. Steven Craig made great runs to get through the Dunfermline back four.

"We controlled large spells of the game but we were disappointed at 3-2 but in the end we have come away with a point. Dunfermline's ambitions, potential and resources that they have are completely different from Ross County's but we were more than a match for Dunfermline today.

"We have one of the best defensive records in the league. Today we came up against Andy Kirk who is a quality striker - he is an internationalist. That's what you get when you have a bit of money to spend."

Adams was laughing after his substitution paid immediate dividend for the second match running. Woods scored after coming off the bench against Morton on Tuesday and Iain Vigurs did the same at East End Park.

"I told Vigurs before the game that he has to score more goals. He certainly scored a great one today and it was a magnificent way to finish what I thought was a great football match."
