05/12/09: Post match comments from Jim McIntyre and his Ayr United counterpart, Brian Reid.

"We just didn't play today at all" claimed Jim McIntyre after defeat at Ayr.

"I am very disappointed, we were sloppy in possession of the ball and our tempo was poor. Add the two of them together and it is not going to help you out."

He was quick to dismiss suggestions that the exertions at Dumfries had contributed to the loss:-

"Not at all, they are professional footballers - they didn't have a game prior to that for two weeks. It was nothing to do with that. The bottom line was that we had several players who played like individuals today instead of team players. But I have got to say that they have been excellent over the last two months or eight games and hopefully it is a one off.

"We can't concern ourselves with other teams; we have to try and do as well as we can. Certainly performances like that will have to be improved on and now it is how we react to this that's important. It is how they came back out for the home game against Ross County and show what they are made of."

The Pars Manager was disappointed that his players had been shot shy and had not come up to the standards expected of them. He confirmed that all the substitutions were tactical and not because of injury:-

"It just wasn't happening so we were trying to make something happen."

Was the Manager of the Month Award for November like a curse? Jim McIntyre said that he wasn't a superstitious person:-

"It's all a lot of tosh!"

Given he had only 16 fit players available, Ayr United Manager Brian Reid was very pleased with his side's victory ,and their third clean sheet in four games:-

"We are on a decent run ourselves although there was talk of Dunfermline being on an eight game undefeated run but that's us four undefeated ourselves. It is just about turning decent performances into victories which we did today.

"I felt from start to finish that we worked superbly as a team, there was great team spirit, we battled for everything and I think our goalkeeper got one save to make. It was a bread and butter save so all credit to ourselves that a team like Dunfermline comes down here and we restrict them to so few chances.

"We had a few chances ourselves and could have made the game a wee bit more comfortable scoreline. When you are one up it is a dodgy scoreline, it is nice to get a second one and we could have got something but I am not going to complain with another win.

"We have got to take great confidence from this and let it not just be a one off. We have to continue the run."
