Willie Gibson Post Raith
Monday, 9th Nov 2009"The Manager has brought me to Dunfermline and shown a lot of faith in me. He has played me every game apart from one and when I came on there I think I did alright as well.
Willie Gibson felt that the result against Raith Rovers came as a consequence of continuing on the good performance from the previous week's match against Dundee:-
"It is pleasing to get assists on goals because as a winger that is what you are meant to do - supply the likes of Graham Bayne for the goal but I am just delighted with the win.
"Davie Graham is claiming the winning goal. He made a great run in there, slid in and put the boy under pressure."
Willie felt it unjust to go in at the break one goal down:-
"I thought we played really well in the first half. They got a goal that we could maybe have defended a wee bit better - it was a mix up although I thought it was offside.
"Given the performance over the 90 minutes I think we deserved to win. It was just a matter of time before a goal came in the second half because of the amount of pressure we put them under.
"The fans turned out in good number for the derby and hopefully with another good result going six undefeated they will start coming back. I hope we get a good crowd against Partick next week.
"At the start of the season we were not doing that well in picking up points but we are now and the confidence in the dressing room is great. When you are not getting beat and you are picking up away points at Ross County, Inverness and winning here at Raith you are going to get confidence from that.
"We are five or six points worse off from where we should be" said Willie who agreed that the Pars league position is possibly a false one:-
"You can go right back to the first game of the season against Inverness at home when we did enough that day to win. We are not worried about that but will try to get the points on the board now. We have played everybody in the league and I don't think that there is that much between everyone. Dundee have spent a lot of money, Inverness have just come down from the SPL but I think we are every bit as good as them and we will be challenging right to the end.
"It has been the story of our season that we haven't converted chances that we have created. As long as we keep getting the results like we are doing then we can't complain. The main thing is that we cut out the silly mistakes at the back and conceding early in games."
Willie sat on the bench at Kilmarnock and having been placed there for the home match against Morton he is keen that he doesn't find himself there at Dunfermline:-
"I never enjoyed it at Kilmarnock because of the lack of starts but the Manager has brought me to Dunfermline and shown a lot of faith in me. He has played me every game apart from one and when I came on there I think I did alright as well. Every time he puts me in the team I have just got to repay him with assists or goals. I have a lot to thank him for for bringing me here and giving me the opportunity to start every week."
