30/10/09: "The confidence is there in the boys but they know that it will be a hard, hard game

Jim McIntyre still has Scott Muirhead out with a back injury and he has ruled out the return of Stephen Glass for the home match against Dundee. The Pars captain came through 70 minutes of reserve team football at Dingwall earlier this week with no adverse reactions.

"Stephen Glass is not ready to play yet, he needs another couple of games following his knee operation. It was a good match against Ross County for him to break in."

He was relieved that Muirhead and Glass remained the only players in his squad to be unavailable.

"Thankfully we have not had a lot of muscle injuries at all and I just hope it stays like that. There have been operations or injuries in tackles to the likes of David Graham and Steven Bell. When the grounds get heavier it may be harder in terms of muscles. We will just need to make sure that we do the right things."

Turning to the game against League leaders Dundee the Pars gaffer acknowledged that it would be yet another difficult fixture. He hopes that his side will take the confidence of two consecutive home wins and eight points from the last twelve.

"Dundee have a real strength in their pool in terms of their numbers but we have done well at home in the last few games and managed to score six goals. The confidence is there in the boys but they know that it will be a hard, hard game. Like every game in the First Division you need to go and compete, win the individual battles and hope that your better players do more than theirs on the day. We need to take the chances when they come our way.

"Results breed confidence. For the first couple of games at the beginning of the season if you are playing well and you don't win it doesn't eat into your confidence, but if that goes on and on then of course it does even if you are playing well.

"We have put four really good results together and this is another home game where we have to try and build on the two previous ones."

Macca was at Dens Park on Tuesday night to see Dundee play Rangers in the Co-operative Insurance Cup and was impressed by the underdogs:-

"Dundee did very well, but of course we have done very well against Premier League opposition as well in that competition as well. Credit to them they were unlucky not to go through."

Dundee will undoubtedly bring a large travelling support to East End Park and generate a good atmosphere for the match. Jim McIntyre hopes that the home fans can get behind the team.

"They will realise that it is a big game and I hope that they will come along and get right behind us as they have in the last two games."

Stressing the difference a strong support can make he added:-

"These are the kind of games that players want to play in. The fans are so important to us and we need them to get right behind us in the big games."
