Thursday, 27th Aug 2009"We didn't start well, didn't press hard enough and let Dunfermline get a good start before we went a goal down."
Iain Williamson made 32 appearances for Dunfermline before being released at the end of last season. The 21 year old came through the youth ranks at Dunfermline and even played in the Scottish Cup Final for the Pars. He returned for the first time on Wednesday night was really looking forward to it but left disappointed with the result. Iain spoke exclusively to the website after the game:-
"We didn't start well, didn't press hard enough and let Dunfermline get a good start before we went a goal down."
Williamson was played at right midfield in the first half before going up front in the second and fortunes appeared to be changing fast for him when he scored from the spot in 52 minutes.
"It was a definite penalty, the defender just pulled Tade's jersey on the line.It was easy to see and an easy one to give but really disappointing to go 2-1 down so quickly after getting back to 1-1.
"I got another chance from another definite penalty as well. The keeper made a good save, I had it on target and should be scoring but that happens."
So how did the Rovers camp feel about the rehearsal for the league business this weekend?
"Saturday's another game, we will learn from tonight. We are the new boys in this league so we are learning all the time. It is another 90 minutes and we will be right up for it."
Iain explained that the move to Starks Park had been a good career move:-
"I am playing often now and scoring in the First Division as well. I get a regular slot and football time now so that's the difference. It has been good so far, probably the most disappointing thing has been tonight."
Well let's see what Saturday brings.
