Managers Post Airdrie
Saturday, 22nd Aug 200922/08/09 JM:- "Overall I am delighted, delighted with the players and delighted with the result.
Jim McIntyre was delighted to take the home win over Airdrie and hoped that it would put an end to the continual comment about the Pars problems with home form.
"We played really well against Inverness and were unlucky to lose. I thought we started the game well but at the restart Airdrie were brighter than us and we were lucky not to concede a couple. We have our goalkeeper to thank for two great saves and one in the second half as well when we got a wee bit sloppy.
"Overall I am delighted, delighted with the players and delighted with the result.
"We should have made more of three or four good counterattacks, we just picked the wrong options at times which could have made the game more comfortable. Airdrie had a couple of chances as well but in the first twenty minutes of the second half we really got at them and I felt that we could have made more of the opportunities that arose."
The Manager revealed that he had concerns when the Referee Anthony Law pulled up with an injured calf within three minutes of the start.
"Why they don't have a fourth official at SFL league games I don't know. I don't know if it is for financial reasons." Nevertheless Macca joked when he was told that it was a Pars fan - 24 year old Joe Moore who had come out of the crowd to run the line:-
"I thought he played a blinder. He only tried to call it as he sees it."
Kenny Black had no complaint with the result:-
"I don't know what happened at the first goal. Graham Bayne seemed to bundle the ball in but Graham is a sizeable striker who needs picked up at a corner. It is disappointing from our point of view and the second goal when Tom (Nolan) tried to redirect it by for a corner. We had the same situation last season with Marc Smyth doing that up at Dingwall.
"I am a bit alarmed about how easy it was for the crosses to come in in the first place. We can have no complaints with the end result.
"Dunfermline have quality players in abundance. Joe Cardle, David Graham who is out injured but they have Willie Gibson in there as well so they have a good variation of selection. Their home form was a concern for them last year and they have already started off with two defeats at home so I felt that after the restart that John Baird should have scored. If we could have gone 1-0 up it could have asked questions of them a little bit more but we failed to do that.
"Dunfermline were quite comfortable in the end."
