Club mourns double loss
Thursday, 20th Aug 2009Willie Logan and Gaul Hutchison
Gail Hutchison (1964-2009)
We are very sad to announce that Gail Hutchison, a former Pars employee, passed away on Thursday 13th August, just a few days before her 45th birthday.
Gail started work at East End Park in the kitchens and during the Jimmy Calderwood era made the meals for the players and coaches during the period where training took place on the artificial pitch. Hard working and very popular, Gail moved on to become front-of-house manager in the Kingdom Suite on match days, and her Pars connection grew when her son was also employed at the club. Gail left however to take up a post with Edinburgh Airport but sadly earlier this year was diagnosed with cancer.
So highly was she thought of that a host of ex-players and coaches were on the phone to East End last week to pass on their condolences, including Jimmy Calderwood, Ian Ferguson, Scott Wilson, Greg Shields and Barry Nicholson.
Gail funeral is on Friday 20th August. Our thoughts are with Gails`s friends and family at this sad time.
Willie Logan (1964-2009)
Everyone is sad to hear of the death of Pars fan Willie Logan after a brave and courageous fight against a brain tumour. Willie from Dalgety Bay was 45 and leaves a wife, Karen and son, Ewan.
After being diagnosed, Willie raised funds for Brain Tumour UK holding a function at East End Park and through various other means. Jim Leishman spoke at a charity dinner last year to raise funds to send Ewan to Lapland and he said of Willie:-
"He was a great supporter of the football club. The way he handled the last two years of his life is a credit to him and his family - it was such a brave attitude towards it."
Willie`s funeral was held on Wednesday and there was a large turnout of friends associated with Dunfermline Athletic. The club expresses it condolences to Karen and Ewan.
