Jim McIntyre was very pleased to leave Cappielow with his team's first three points of the season:-

"It is a tough place to come to and get a result, we have struggled in the past. I thought their attitude was spot on today and deservedly won the game. They were well taken goals and we were unlucky not to get a few others."

Macca dwelt on Andy Kirk's headed goal that was disallowed

"For me it was never a foul on the keeper, I think the wind held it up more than anything. Kirkie had one off the inside of the post that rolled along the line that was unfortunate as well. We played some good stuff in a tricky wind.

"Andy Kirk is a goalscorer and you have to get supply to him. His game is scoring goals and you sometimes don't see him in a game for 70 minutes and then he will just come up with something, that's just the way he is. He has a great partner in Graham Bayne who will forage, work his backside off and win flicks and be a pest. They work well together.

"You are always concerned about the second goal. Morton should have scored in the second half and gave us a couple of hairy moments with just individual mistakes with decision making. The one the boy headed inches over and landed on the roof of the net. We got away with that and were lucky there.  That is something that we will work upon and try and improve on. Overall we deserved a victory on the balance of the game."

Joe Cardle's goal was called terrific by his gaffer:-

"He is capable of that, he has such quick feet and he must be a nightmare for the bigger defenders with that low centre of gravity. He can really move it quickly before the big man can shift his legs and has got the shot or his cross away. He is a real danger on his good foot cutting in from either wing. That gives us options this year.

"David Graham is the same; he can go either way and is comfortable on either side which is great. The fact that we have four wide men this year gives us good options. If it is not quite happening for one we can make an early swap and give the other one a go, whoever is doing well keeps the jersey. I am sure that the strikers are pleased."

Morton manager Davie Irons:-

"I don't think there was much in the game between the two teams it was just that they took their chances. We are disappointed with the goals that we lost, especially the first one allowing the boy to come in between the centre backs. That shouldn't happen."

At that Andy Kirk goal and the second from Joe Cardle, there was no way any blame could be placed on Morton's fourth choice keeper, Ryan McWilliams:-

"Ryan was thrown in at ten to three having never kicked a ball in the first team football in his life. I thought he equipped himself very well in a tough game. Bryn Halliwell's back went into a spasm in the warm up. Kevin Cuthbert has a broken foot.

"After that we worked our way back into the game and at Brian's (Wake) chance I thought we were on top but goals change games and they go up the park and score. It was a great finish from the lad, just under the bar it doesn't matter if we had three goalkeepers there. Credit to Dunfermline for the way they finished their second goal and that killed the game.

"Brian Graham won a header and it bounced over the bar. When it is not your day, it is not your day!"
