21/07/09: "I thought we were ruthless tonight in everything that we did. You have to do the right things and keep passing the ball; I thought we passed it with real purpose.

Jim McIntyre felt it was "unusual" but very nice to see his side score seven goals:-

"I thought we were ruthless tonight in everything that we did.  We were passing the ball well.  They made a mistake for the first goal, similar to ourselves on Saturday, and they got punished the way we got punished. That's how you have got to become.

"You have to do the right things and keep passing the ball; I thought we passed it with real purpose.  We got it into the wide areas and let the boys do their stuff.  Some of the link up play and some of the deliveries were excellent.

"Steven Bell was back which is good news because it gives us a bit of height in the middle of the park.  He had a great finish for the goal and doubled up at right back when we got a couple of injuries."

These injuries included Austin McCann who went off because he felt his groin and Calum Woods got a couple of stitches just over his eye.  Willie Gibson left the ground with the aid of a pair of crutches.  The Manager also expanded on Andy Dowie's condition after incurring an injury in training when his leg buckled:-

"He has a tear in the ligament in the back of his knee and it needs put in a brace for three or four weeks.  That's a big blow, he is not needing an operation - it is the ligament and not his cartilage.  Without the brace there is a high chance of further injury just with stretching.  He will be out for a month in the best case.

"We sent him to see a specialist and he confirmed it.  It is a real blow because he was looking the part, he had a good pre season under his belt and then that happens.  It always seems to be the case when you are short in one area that you lose one of those guys."

The Manager looked ahead to Saturday stating that the Challenge Cup tie against Arbroath is a competitive game that he wants to win.

"We will probably mix the side up again. For me the real thing is being ready for the league but we will be trying our best to win it.  We will be giving Arbroath the respect that they are due and try and do things properly."

Goals at home would be very welcome on Saturday.  Graham Bayne put away a first half hattrick and the Manager agreed the captain's armband obviously had a positive effect:-

"If he is going to score a hattrick then that's maybe a wee omen. I have just been swapping the captaincy around a wee bit. At the end of the day you need eleven captain's out there. Whoever is captain is not important, it is just important to see it hit the back of the net.

"There are a few candidates for the captaincy.  I don't place a big role on it. They all need to step up to the plate on a Saturday, not just one guy."
