Jim McIntyre Post Hibs
Saturday, 18th Jul 200918/07/09: "We made some shocking mistakes at the back for the goals. The first three I felt was just positioning, giving the ball away with poor passing really.
Jim McIntyre spoke after the crushing 4-0 defeat at home to Hibs:-
"We made some shocking mistakes at the back for the goals. The first three I felt was just positioning, giving the ball away with poor passing really. Hibs are a right good side and they pass the side really well; good team.
"We got into some good areas again and we got some better deliveries in but just didn't get anyone on the end of them today. There was some good stuff but the overriding factor was that we were poor defensively."
The Manager dismissed the suggestion that was something he should be worried about:-
"It doesn't give me concern it is just something that needs to be worked on. It was individual mistakes and that is not something you can do much about when it happens in a game situation. You hope that the players learn from it and take it on board."
Macca confirmed that the new players are settling in well and working hard:-
"We will not come against that kind of opposition every week. They were so comfortable on the ball and pass it with real purpose.
"We have now played two very good sides; you can see the step up and that is what the players have to aspire to get to, especially the younger ones who have not played at that level. These games are fantastic for us, it gives them an insight as to what they need to get to. That is what it is all about; it is not about scorelines. OK you don't want to get beat 4-0 at anytime but it is about learning and knowing what it takes to play at that level."
Was the Manager closer to affirming who would start in the competitive games?
"No, for me next Saturday is the last of the pre season games. Obviously it is a game that we want to win, our first competitive match and we will be doing our utmost to win it but I view it as one of the last pre season games."
