McDougall glad to be on board

"There are expectations at Dunfermline that didn't exist at Airdrie. Airdrie's main aim when they came up last year was to stay in the division whereas Dunfermline's is to get up a division.

Steven McDougall is glad to have finally arrived at East End Park on a two year contract because he admitted to the website:-

"As soon as I found out that Dunfermline were interested I had my heart set on it. I wasn't very sure that it was going to happen.  Thankfully it is all finished now and I can just get on with football rather than worrying about all the other stuff that comes with it..

"Right at the start I thought everything was fine and it was going to go smoothly but it wasn't to be. It was weird playing for Airdrie knowing that I was leaving in the summer. It was all worked out in the end and all those problems are away now.

"I put Dunfermline at the back of my head until this season. You would never go on to the park and not try your best. You want to win for your team and your team mates. "

At the end of last season Steven ended up in the play offs for the second time in his Airdrie career, but only started in the second leg of the first tie against Peterhead and then only came on for the last 3 minutes of first leg and 30 minutes of the second leg of the final against Ayr United.

"They are definitely not nice, there is a lot of pressure - to play a whole season and go down as a result of two games is not great but that's all part of football.  If you win play offs they would be a good thing but I have not won in them."

Steven finished his Airdrie United career playing up front but he prefers to play wide, either right or left.

"There are expectations at Dunfermline that didn't exist at Airdrie" claimed Steven.  "Airdrie's main aim when they came up last year was to stay in the division whereas Dunfermline's is to get up a division.  There is more at stake at a club like Dunfermline."
