Manager on Friday
Friday, 1st May 2009Out for tomorrow's game will be Scott Thomson, Greg Shields, Simon Wiles, Graeme Holmes and Kevin Harper.
The Manager and players at Pitreavie this lunchtime were looking forward to the match tomorrow against Queen of the South. It had taken longer than normal to get over the disappointment of not reaching the Cup Final and as well as Macca, the players were down as well. "You may not get another chance of reaching a Cup Final so you have to take it when it comes along. A Semi is the worst round to lose out on."
Jim McIntyre said that although there would be no Cup Final - there was still plenty to play for: He wanted to achieve third in the league and felt that if they did, coupled with reaching the Semi Final of the Cup there had been an improvement from last season.
Out for tomorrow's game will be Scott Thomson, Greg Shields, Simon Wiles, Graeme Holmes and Kevin Harper. With Nipper being out, there will inevitably be a change in the starting line up.
At the beginning of the season the Manager thought that the Doonhamers would be one of the teams challenging at the top of the league, but like ourselves they had a disappointing run of games. Asked how he was going to get his players to stop Stephen Dobbie from scoring, the Manager said that he would tell his players to get tight on him and admitted that as well as Queens being on form just now, so was Stephen Dobbie. The Queens striker has scored ten goals in the last five matches.
It looks like a busy last 8 days for the squad, with the Reserve League Cup Semi Final at Lesser Hampden on Monday and the postponed league game against Morton on Tuesday. If the Pars win on Monday, then there will need to be a final played during the week as well, with the last game of the season being Saturday 9 May.
