Steven Bell Post Saints

Saturday, 11th Apr 2009

"A team like Dunfermline shouldn't be down there; we should be doing far better than we are and challenging St Johnstone at the top of the league.

Steven Bell v St Johnstone

Steven Bell felt that St Johnstone game was similar to many that have gone before this season:-

"We have been battering teams for the first twenty minutes, then they get a goal and deflate us. We did well to get back into it but they scored a wonder goal for their second. The sending off and penalty killed us, it was just a case of keeping the score down. We had some decent chances after that.

"We are doing well in certain points of games but then slipping up and letting teams cash in on our mistakes."

Steven spoke to his captain about the sending off incident:-

"He said the boy fell back when he hit the shot but it was that close to him that it was a hard decision for the ref. I think he always is going to give it. Good luck to St Johnstone, they have been the best team all season. It is a hard league this and they have done well to lose only four games.

Steven Bell v St Johnstone

"We have lost far too many games, especially at home so we just need to look towards next season now and the cup.

"I heard Airdrie won today so that's them five points behind us. That puts pressure on us to stay away from that relegation zone. A team like Dunfermline shouldn't be down there; we should be doing far better than we are and challenging St Johnstone at the top of the league.

"St Johnstone have been consistent in not losing, Partick Thistle lost and Dundee lost so they lost the chance to keep up with them.

"I don't know what has happened this season, it is hard to put your finger on it. The players we have in that dressing room are easily good enough to be playing in the SPL.

"Injuries must be frustrating for the Manager.  I think he has one game all season, at Clyde away, when had everybody fit but boys even got injured that day.

"The management is doing all they can to keep us going, but it is the players that go out on the pitch that have to do it. It needs to change. Everyone gets on with the Manager, he signed me, I think that the Manager is a good guy hopefully they will keep him."
