Managers Post Dundee
Tuesday, 31st Mar 200931/03/09: Macca - "We kept plugging away and I thought we deservedly equalised."
Jim McIntyre described the goal that Dunfermline gifted Dundee as "horrific".
"It is not the first time in the last few weeks that we have gifted teams goals. I wish to hell somebody would gift us a goal but we don't seem to get gifts. It knocks the stuffing out of you for five or ten minutes and it gets the crowd anxious and on your case.
"Credit to the boys they came back and I thought they kept probing away and trying to cut Dundee open. Rab Douglas had a couple of saves and we have had a couple of near misses. Our final ball on the night could have been so much better. We got into some good areas, especially in the first half.
"Jamie Mole got a really good opportunity but takes a heavy touch. That has got to be buried. We kept plugging away and I thought we deservedly equalised."
The Pars Manager was asked if a draw was the correct result to which he replied:-
"I thought we slightly shaded it. People will say that (you deserved just a draw) when they see you scoring in the 90th minute. We started the game the better, Dundee had a period for ten minutes, then we finished the half stronger. Dundee came out in the second half and they were the better side for 15 minutes. They were getting lots of pressure and then the mistakes gave them the goal. I thought we had the last 20 minutes and that's how I saw it."
Macca explained that the substitution of his skipper Scott Wilson at half time was because they central defender was carrying an injury.
"He has been struggling a little bit with his knee. He has a bit of fluid on his knee but he trained yesterday. We will just need to monitor that, but we have Greg (Shields) back now so we have a bit of cover there."
Jocky Scott's comments about throwing away six points in the last three games are not repeatable but he did lament the manner in which his side have failed to record victories:-
"Every game has been the same. Second half dominated it until the last ten minutes. Then we decide to try and hold onto it. We are only one goal up and we pay the penalty. It has been like that in three games. I used to think that you were supposed to learn from your mistakes, but unfortunately we don't. It has cost us dearly I'm afraid.
"We have got to win games. It's six points in three games we have dropped when we have been leading and dominating the game at that particular time and then we decide to try and hold on to what we have got and we allow the opposition a lot of possession. A lot of balls into our box, shots at goal, corner kicks, crosses into the box - all it needs is one opportunity and they got it tonight again.
"We could be sitting one point behind St Johnstone right now with one game more played. That would be putting pressure on them. Now seven points behind with St Johnstone with a game in hand and there's no pressure. To say I am disappointed is an understatement."
