Monday, 30th Mar 2009Accounts for season 2007/08 have now been issued to the shareholders ahead of the AGM
Dunfermline Athletic Football Club has now issued its financial results for the season 2007/08 to all of its Shareholders in advance of our Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday 28th April 2009.
William Hodgins, Chief Executive said
"As predicted at the last Annual General Meeting, the Club has incurred a sizable loss as a result of relegation from the Scottish Premier League and unlike the previous season, we were also unable to progress into the latter stages of the Cup competitions.
The Club has however restructured itself considerably during this period and various cost reduction initiatives have been implemented successfully.
Along with other Clubs, we are also now faced with a deterioration in the economy which will no doubt put further pressure on income levels, however on a positive note, we feel we are very close to reaching our target of long term sustainability without any further requirement of new capital from the Directors. This will enable the Club to provide a First Team budget that will ensure that we remain extremely competitive and are able to challenge for promotion to the Scottish Premier League and to perform to a high standard in the various Cup competitions. "
John Yorkston, Chairman said
"At time of writing, the First Team have progressed through to the Semi Final of the Scottish Cup and we wish Jim McIntyre and his squad the very best in their endeavours to take Dunfermline Athletic Football Club to their fourth national cup final in only five years. A record most, if not all, provincial clubs in Scotland would aspire towards.
We would also like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Board to thank everyone for their support during a difficult period of readjustment and we remain committed as ever to re-establishing our place in the top flight of Scottish football. "
