Calum Woods Post Airdrie
Wednesday, 5th Nov 2008"After I scored I was on a high but my calf felt sore and it was disappointing to have to come off."
Last time Calum Woods played at the Excelsior Stadium he was red carded but on his second visit to the North Lanarkshire ground he was celebrated his first goal in senior football. Calum talked us through his goal:-
"I just picked the ball up and started running with it. It just opened up for me and when I got on the edge of the box I thought I'd have a shot. I just kept it down and it went in luckily enough. I got the ball on to my left foot and hit it in. It is good to come here and score.
"I just went mad didn't I? I was happy to score my first goal for Dunfermline - I made up and was lost for a bit."
Calum's match ended early when Scott Thomson had to come on for him. He revealed that he had picked up a strain even before his fourth minute goal:-
"I started to feel my calf a little bit just. When I was running with the ball I felt it. It was just tightness that arrived.
"After I scored I was on a high but my calf felt sore and it was disappointing to have to come off."
Calum watched the remainder of the game from the bench but was full of praise for the way the defence dealt with the pressure that Airdrie put on Dunfermline:-
"At the end of the day we won 3-1 so you can't complain about that. You could see that all the lads were together out there and we dealt with it. Paul Gallacher just showed that he is a brilliant keeper, he had a good few saves."
