Andy Kirk Post Partick
Saturday, 18th Oct 2008"It's another goal and I am pleased with it. The result is the most satisfying things for us."
Andy Kirk was pleased to extend Dunfermline's record to six games without defeat:-
"It was important today being the home team that we kept the run going. We are delighted with the three points."
Those three points came courtesy of Andy's seventh goal in twelve games for the Pars:-
"It was a great move, wee Nick Phinn burst into the box. He tried to fire it across and it just took a nick off a defender that took a bit of pace of it and allowed me to get my sidefoot to it. Its another goal and I am pleased with it. The result is the most satisfying things for us."
Jonny Tuffey in the Partick goal was included in the Northern Ireland's World Cup squad during the international break but Andy has never played with the 21 year old who arrived at Firhill from Coventry City. Nevertheless he paid the complement:-
"He looks to be a good goalkeeper; he had a couple of good saves and it is good to see another fellow countryman doing well."
Andy acknowledged that the results went Dunfermline's way on Saturday, results that took the Pars to second place in the league, :-
"There's a long way to go and it is only the first game of the second quarter. We have been quietly putting results together and we have to keep doing that. There is a long way to go but hopefully come the end of the season we can be there."
