Calum Woods Post Clyde
Sunday, 5th Oct 2008"It was good to get the 2-0 win. We got the job done despite the conditions not being the best.
Calum Woods travelled to Broadwood on Saturday disappointed that he would only be on the bench but when Greg Shields picked up a calf injury in the pre match warm up he found himself quickly promoted into the starting eleven:-
"I enjoyed playing but obviously I would have liked to have known that I was playing before it because I was expecting to be on the bench until the warm up. I saw Shieldsie go in so I wondered then 'is he going to be alright'. The Manager came out and told me that I was going to be playing.
"You are kind of focussed anyway in case something happens, today it did. I was prepared for it."
Midway through the first half Scott Thomson was forced off through injury. Scott had been feeling his left thigh before Pat Clarke's crunching tackle that cut his knee. Calum moved to centre of the defence alongside Scott Wilson:-
"Last time I played there was last season, I enjoy playing there but right back is my main position. I played there in the Liverpool youth team."
Regardless of all his roles Calum thought his team mates put in a hard shift to take the result away from Broadwood:-
"It was good to get the 2-0 win. We got the job done despite the conditions not being the best. I got cramp in both calves - a lot of people thought I got shot!"
