Dunfermline's re-arranged fixture away to Ross County was postponed for a second time on Tuesday 3rd March. This time it was just an hour and five minutes before the kick off when Kenny McIntyre broke the bad news on Radio Scotland.
Like the original fixture on Saturday 6th December Jim McIntyre and his side had travelled all the way to Victoria Park to discover that the pitch was unplayable. Illuminated signs on the A9 warned of Heavy Snow forecast, Drive with care but the weather in Dingwall was more monsoon like.
The light rain that had been forecast turned out to be a deluge, virtually singling out the highland town to accept the heavens buckets. The pitch was clearly unplayable to referee Steve Conroy when he inspected the playing surface. He discussed the conditions with both managers but there was little option since the ball would only have got bogged down in the water.
Ross County Secretary Donald McBain explained that the rain had only started at 4.30pm and the forecast of light rain was greatly underestimated. There is a possibility that the match will be re-arranged for Tuesday 24th March but that is subject to both clubs agreeing and SFL confirmation.
