Manager Post Morton
Saturday, 28th Feb 200928/02/09:- "Our consistency has been our achilles' heel all season and that has been shown up again today.
Jim McIntyre knew that any team going to Greenock had to expect a battle:-
"They are a big strong physical side and we were second best today in that battle, especially in the first half. That set the tone for the day.
"They were well warned before it of what to expect. Morton have a style of play they like to play. We have to go and match that, we have to go and compete. If you do not compete you are not going to see a lot of the ball because you are always going to be losing the ball."
It was a day that took 76 minutes for the visitors to test Morton keeper Kevin Cuthbert and Jim McIntyre felt that possession was given away far too easily:-
"Not enough was done to help your team mate when they were on the ball but the bottom line is - Morton dominated us today. They bullied us to a certain degree and it is very hard to take.
"We did nothing well today, whatever that might be - pass the ball, close people down, win headers or win tackles. That's the basics, if you don't do the basics right you are going to struggle."
Asked whether his team still had the bottle to challenge for promotion, Macca replied:-
"Well, time will tell if we have the bottle for it. Our consistency has been our achilles heel all season and that has been shown up again today.
"There is plenty to play for but it is going to have to be one helluva run to get ourselves back in the promotion hunt. We have got boys coming back from injury but I am not going to make that an excuse. At the end of the day they can do it one week but not the next. Consistency is just not there; it has been up and down all season and until we put a run of results together we will not be challenging."
