Paul Gallacher Post Dundee
Saturday, 13th Sep 2008"It was a poor sending off from our part. The way Calum has come up; the referee has just caught it for a second - he thinks that it has been a head butt or an elbow but Calum is not that type of boy ..
Paul Gallacher thought that his defence were magnificent at Dens Park:-
"I had a few saves to be fair but I think it was a great performance from the boys at the back especially. They were absolutely fantastic and were under the cosh after Calum got sent off. We all chipped in and did our part and at the end of the day it was a great result."
There were several occasions when the ball rebounded about the Pars box like something on a pinball table:-
"One at the end bounced off me, I think I saved it about three times, in the stramash it was cleared. Luck has been missing for a while so it was good to get that cleared."
Gall went on to reveal that the feeling at half time was one of injustice:-
"It was a poor sending off from our part. The way Calum has come up; the referee has just caught it for a second - he thinks that it has been a head butt or an elbow but Calum is not that type of boy, he would never do that. So the sending off was unfortunate but we just had to stick together as the Manager said, work hard and try and get a break.
"We knew we would be up against it and that showed in the second half with some absolutely fantastic blocks from the boys at the back. I was happy with a few good saves and a clean sheet."
Paul picked up a yellow card near the end when Euan Norris performed a fairly rare hattrick of three yellows all at once!
"I was just trying to separate the fight. Paul McHale was looking a bit angry and I was just trying to drag him away (from ScottThomson), but I think there are new guidelines if I come out of my box I get booked. The ref had a bad day anyway; he didn't send me off that's the main thing."
Jim McIntyre's post match comments included surprise that Paul Gallacher did not attract interest from SPL clubs but Paul would be delighted if he could help take Dunfermline there:-
"They are a massive club and we are hoping that together we can put on a good show this season, get ourselves up and play in the big time with Dunfermline."
