Simon wants to be Wiles better
Friday, 5th Sep 2008"The north west boys have been sticking together. I am staying at the hotel with Andy Kirk but would like to stay up near where Calum and the lads are so that I can pop round and see them.
Simon Wiles in his second Pars match v Livingston 30/08/08
Recent Pars acquisition from Blackpool, Simon Wiles will be watching England play Andorra on Saturday night but when he spoke to the website he was still oblivious who Fabio Cappello opponents would be. He gave his impressions after experiencing more of the Dunfermline Athletic training regime:-
"The fortnight here has been really good, I'm settling down little bit better day by day and hopefully by next week I will be fully settled in to give my all to the Pars.
"The training has been brilliant, it is all short sharp stuff in little boxes that we can take into the game. Every club tries to do everything nice and short and sharp, in small boxes because when you get in situations in games they can be compact and you have got to find your way out of things. The gaffer is a big fan of that so it is what we try and produce on the Saturdays."
Manager Jim McIntyre has impressed Simon:-
"He has been brilliant, he has joined in training and you can see he has got it. He gives a lot of confidence to the lads and his management skills are brilliant, hopefully we can get the results on the park to repay him."
Simon only knew Robert Kielty the Fitness Coach when he arrived at East End Park. Robert was at Blackpool with Colin Hendry when Simon was there but settling in has not been a problem. Scouser Calum Woods has been very close to him:-
"The north west boys have been sticking together. I am staying at the hotel with Andy Kirk but would like to stay up near where Calum and the lads are so that I can pop round and see them.
"I was round at Woodsies the night before the last match talking through how we play, telling him what I prefer and trying to get an understanding going. The sooner it can kick off the better."
The right midfielder is trying to get some extra running in this week to raise his fitness so that next time he can last the full 90 minutes. He returned to talk about last weekend's disappointing result against Livingston:-
"I felt I started shaky but settled down and I was happy to get the ball in for the goal. My lack of fitness started to kick in after that. I was really disappointed with the result; I thought we missed a couple of chances that we could have capitalised on.
"The results all fell for us last Saturday, we dropped two points to Airdrie and if we had got those we would have been well up. We are gutted that we missed the opportunity against Livingston.
"Dundee will be on a bit of a low after losing to Queen of the South so hopefully we can go there and turn them over with a good performance. I just want to crack on up here and get the team up the table."
