Monday, 11th Aug 2008"It's very rare I get them from that distance but maybe that's something that'll start to develop in my game but most of my goals come from inside the box.
"It was a good result for us. First half we were very poor and the Manager had a bit of a go at us at half time and we came out and lifted it.
"Based on the second half performance we deserved the win so we're all delighted.
"Last week we played very, very well and probably didn't deserve to lose the game, but at the end of the day that's football.
"They probably came in at half time very buoyant thinking they could have been more than one ahead but we came out in the second half and responded to what the manager said to us at half time. I was delighted to get the two goals and more delighted that it got us the win.
"It's very rare I get them from that distance but maybe that's something that'll start to develop in my game but most of my goals come from inside the box.
"It was just the way it opened up. Burkie got the ball and turned and I've moved into space and nobody's come with me and I've opened it up and still nobody's shut me down, so I thought 'why not?' and I've hit it quite well and it's hit the bottom corner.
"The second one as well, I've held it up at the edge of the box and the guy's let me turn too easily and I just thought if I keep it down and go for the corner I've got a chance and luckily enough it went in again."
Andy Kirk made a telling contribution to the win but he said that has been very impressed with the Pars since arriving from Yeovil:-
"Our training's very, very good. There are good players here, the standard's good in training apparently the first half has been the worst that we've played by far.
"At Partick last week, although I watched most of the game from the bench, I was very impressed by the way we got the ball down and passed it.
"The boys look very fit and even at Peterhead on Tuesday it was the same thing. First half today the boys maybe felt a bit tired or something, we didn't click, but as I say second half we came out and responded and showed what sort of team we could be.
"The manager gave us a bollocking at half time and rightly so. We got our distances wrong, we were too far off the game, defensively we were too deep and there was too much of a gap between us and the midfield.Second half we sorted that out and pushed up, got tighter and instead of it being 30-40 yard balls it was 10 or 15 yard balls which makes the game a lot easier."
No surprise - Andy was the Man of the Match
Andy and his wife Karen are currently house hunting and seeking to get settled in Fife. They have been staying in a hotel and their kids are back in Belfast with their grandparents. Things are looking good so far though and Andy is looking forward to forming a promising partnership with Graham Bayne:-
"Big Graham probably hasn't got his goal in the last couple of games but the work he does off the ball, he brings players into the game, he wins flick-ons, he does things in the game which I can't do and vice versa so we're a good partnership for each other.
"Graham's a good player. He'll get us goals and hopefully we can hit it off and have a really good season."
