Nick Phinn Post Peterhead
Tuesday, 5th Aug 2008Goalscorer remains sober with Man of the Match Award
Man of the Match Nick Phinn was presented with a large bottle of champagne that he hoped his parents would enjoy. He was delighted to score the opening Pars goal so early in the second half:-
"It kind of killed them off a bit and gave us a bit of confidence to go on and win the game.
We had a chance early on which I should maybe have pulled the trigger on. Obviously I didn't, then another one fell to me and I should have hit the target but it was too close to the keeper.
Nick described his goal:-
"I was just supporting when the ball fell for Kirky, just following it in in case something came off the keeper which it did and I was there to tap it in. It was just right timing and obviously you have got to be there. I was happy enough with that.
"We are just delighted to get a win really, it is not an easy place to come to especially the way Peterhead have been playing the last few weeks. They are a good team to be fair. We knew that coming up here and knew our attitude had to be right from the kick off.We played really well and the gaffer was happy with our attitude."
The young midfielder has really impressed this season so far and claims that some tweaking to the formation of last season has made all the difference:-
"I think the boys are really settling into it now. We are gelling well and everybody is happy so we must try keeping it going as the season goes on."
