Nick Phinn Post Thistle
Saturday, 2nd Aug 2008Big Baynee hit the bar or the post and the same with Scott Thomson. On another day they go in and you go away from here with three points but it just wasn't to be.
Nick Phinn spoke after the match at Firhill:-
"It was disappointing to lose a goal so late on, especially the way we played in the second half. I thought we dominated. Big Baynee hit the bar or the post and the same with Scott Thomson. On another day they go in and you go away from here with three points but it just wasn't to be. It is very disappointing."
Twice Nick was called upon to head the ball off the line:-
"Yes, one in the first half and one in the second. It was just one of those things. I was on the back post and it just came to me. I put everything on it just to keep it out."
Nick had been substituted before the killer goal went in:-
"I was sitting on the bench and I saw it fall to the boy on the edge of the box. He looked as though he hit it fairly well. Obviously we had hit the bar and the post at the other five minutes before so it's just your luck on the day. It wasn't to be."
Next up is the long trip north for the Co-operative Insurance Cup tie against Peterhead. The Blue Toon team won away from home to the much fancied East Fife.
"We will be looking to get a result up there and put this at the back of our minds and kick on from there. Peterhead have been doing very well pre season, they had a good result against Aberdeen and they won today so they will be confident going into the game.
"It is no different from any other game, we will be going up there, get a good start and hope to get a result."
