Paul Gallacher Post Hearts

"It was a tough game but the onus was on us. We came to them and proved that we were the better team."

Paul Gallacher felt that the win over Hearts was a great start for the team's first home match. Like his Manager he could not fault the performance against Hearts:-

"I thought the boys worked hard. We have such a small squad this year we have to work for each other and if we can keep away from injuries, I think we will have a good season and not be too far away.

"A few boys had tired legs; it was a hard game obviously with them trying to impress their new manager. To be honest, I thought we dominated the match from start to finish. We looked as though we could go forward. We created a few chances and on another day had we been a bit more clinical we could have got a few more goals.

"I did not have a lot to do in the first half but in the second half I was called about twice or three times possibly. I am happy with that. Making saves is great but you do not want to be too busy."

Paul was modestly passing over two fantastic saves that made the difference between win and defeat:-

"I think the first one took a deflection so to get a touch on that I was delighted. The second one was a reaction that went to my left. It is a team game, we work really hard together and I think that showed on the park. The Manager has the boys believing in themselves and we are playing some good football.

"It was a tough game but the onus was on us. We came to them and proved that we were the better team."

The next pre season friendly at East End Park brings Paul up against the club he spent almost seven years with. Next Tuesday's match will be the first time that he has lined up against Dundee United since leaving Tannadice four years ago.

"If selected obviously it will be fantastic to play against my old club. It will be interesting to see the reaction I get. I had fantastic years at the club, enjoyed it. There were great people at the club and still at the club that I know. I have a fond bit in my heart for them; it is still a result I look for every week. They are a big part of my life but I need to move on now. Dunfermline are my team; it would be nice to keep them out next week but I don't want to build it up too much and put pressure on myself."
