Dunfermline Athletic

Manager on Monday

Monday, 14th Jul 2008

"Now we are back to start to play teams that are like our own teams. I am looking forward to the Hearts game and getting on our own pitch. It will give the boys a wee feel for the crowd again."

Speaking at lunchtime, Jim McIntyre had no news of any incoming players:-

"It is still very slow on the transfer front and as I have said before I am not going to sign people for the sake of it. We are working hard behind the scenes to get people on board."

He reflected on the squad's week away at the training camp in Obertraun, Austria:-

"It was a fantastic place to go to for work, the boys loved it. The facilities are the most important thing, it doesn't matter what the place is like but the fact that is picturesque is a bonus."

The squad played two matches while in Austria. The first against Ukrainian side Metalurh Zaporizhya was abandoned early in the second half because of a thunderstorm that whipped up a fierce wind. Then on Wednesday in Biscofshofen, Dunfermline lost 4-1 to Romanian UEFA Cup hopefuls FC Timisoara.

"We played two good sides. Obviously the second team was a lot stronger but it was two good games to take on and it was nice to play against different teams from different countries.

"Now we are back to start to play teams that are like our own teams. I am looking forward to the Hearts game and getting on our own pitch. It will give the boys a wee feel for the crowd again."

After pulling out of training on Monday with a recurrence of the hamstring injury that forced him to be sidelined last Wednesday, Graeme Holmes looks likely to miss Wednesday's match against Csaba Laszlo's new charges. Nick Phinn and Kevin Harper were back in training today as well with no reaction to their injuries. Stuart Dearden trained this morning but two of the new signings - Steven Bell and Graeme Holmes are currently crocked with the Manager declining to predict when they might be ready for action.
