Dunfermline Athletic have today (Monday 19th May) signed Austin McCann, Steven Bell and Graeme Holmes on 2 year deals (1st July 08 - 31st May 2010).
Steven Bell, Austin McCann, Jim McIntyre and Graeme Holmes
Austin McCann joins on freedom of contract from Football League Two club, Notts County. Austin is a left back who likes to get forward and provide crosses into the opposition's penalty area. The 28 year old has played at Airdrie, Clyde (loan) and at Boston United but he is probably better known as a Hearts player. The Jambos paid Airdrie £50,000 for Austin in February 2001 but he moved on to Boston United in June 2004 for an undisclosed fee.
The Clydebank born player joined the Magpies in the summer of 2006 on a free transfer after failing to agree new terms with Boston United, and his performances during his two years at York Street showed enough for County Manager, Steve Thompson to move swiftly to take him to Meadow Lane. He was two seasons at Notts County has started 61 games and been used as sub on nine occasions.
Steven Bell joins from Stirling Albion. Born 24 February 1985, the midfielder was Allan Moore's first signing for season 2005/06, having put pen to paper in pre-season. He will be remembered as a goalscorer in Stirling's matches against the Pars in both October and March.
Steven started his career with Dundee United, although he never made the break through. Steven then went on to sign for First Division QOS, but a bad injury there limited his appearances and he was released at the end of 2004/05. Allan Moore was quick to snap Steven up and despite injury keeping him out for the start of season 2005/06, he went on to have a fine season, scoring twice for the Binos. Steven improved again in season 2006/07 and scored nine important goals on the way to the Binos promotion. One of those goals was scored in only 15 seconds and he became the joint fastest goalscorer in the Binos' history.
Graeme Holmes joins from Airdrie United. Born 26 March 1984 in Motherwell.
Graeme came through the Dundee United youth system having been with the Tannadice club since his time as an under 14 player. He went full time when Alex Smith was manager and made his Premier League debut for the club in April 2004 and his time in Dundee saw him make only a handful of appearances as a substitute. He had a spell on loan to Dumbarton in 2004/05 though frequent changes at management level with Dundee United saw regular changes in playing staff.
Looking for regular first team football he joined Airdrie in November 2005 making his debut against Queen of the South in December 2005 when the Diamonds won 4-0. After featuring 6 times as a substitute, he made his first start for his new club against Clyde in January 2006. A talented midfield player standing 5ft 9in, comfortable with the ball at his feet and a real turn of pace he gets beyond the forwards and has added goalscoring to his CV. Graeme made 87 appearances for Airdrie scoring five times in the SFL.
