Manager on Friday
Friday, 25th Apr 2008Jim McIntyre will give youth a chance at first team football on the closing day of the season.
Jim McIntyre spoke on Friday ahead of the last match of the 2007-08 season:-
"I think everybody's ready for a break, the fans and the players. It's been a disappointing season, so hopefully we can finish it on a home win. It would be nice. We've drawn far too many games this season so a home win would be nice."
The Manager dismissed any suggestion that Queen of the South might have turned their attention on the Scottish Cup Final:-
"They'll have players coming in who'll want to impress. We'll not have our strongest team out either, there will be a few out. We have a couple of injuries, a couple of doubts at the minute, we're just waiting on the morning to find out if they're going to be ok or not.
"Paul Willis will be involved and so will Iain Williamson. There might be one or two from the 17s on the bench. We'll need to wait and see the boys who are carrying strains, how they are."
Seventeen year olds Harry McGregor and Ryan Thomson were substituted early in the second half of Friday night's final under 19 fixture against Arbroath and they are hopeful of being part of the squad against QOS. The Manager added:-
"Part of it is looking forward to next year and giving them a game, but obviously it's partly because there are injuries in the squad.
"We're in talks with Darren (Young) and hopefully we'll know in the next week or two."
Jim McIntyre explained that he will have a short break as soon as the season ends for four days but then he'll be back:-
"Up and down to England to take in some games. There are exit trials for boys who have been released from Premiership clubs so we'll be going to them. They're all over the country.
"We're short of strikers and we're working hard behind the scenes to get new faces on board."
