Scott Thomson Post Partick
Sunday, 6th Apr 2008"We were favourites for the league, let's not kid ourselves on we have had a very poor season by our standards. We want to make sure that the fans want to come back ...
Scott Thomson was pleased to take a win from what he described as a "scrappy game":-
"As the gaffer said after the game, we have lost too many games like that or end up drawing them after taking the lead. I was delighted with the clean sheet and delighted to get three points."
Scott smiled when he reminded how close he was to ending his 40 month long goal drought:-
"Stevie laid it off. He said it was a wee bit hard coming back on me but I still think I should have done better. I was actually going to strike it but I thought the defender would maybe get a block in so I tried to lift it a bit. Unfortunately I lifted it right out of the stand."
Thankfully, Stevie Crawford grabbed what turned out to be the winning goal on the stroke of half time:-
"It was a good move. Nicky Phinn, and I think Burky won a header just before that. It went out the other side and it was a great wee knock on by Nicky and Craw did what he has done for years - put it away."
The former club captain played down the statistic that shows Dunfermline have only won one SFL game in his absence:-
"I am just happy to be back playing. I had a terrible time with injuries and then I never got picked at the start of the season. When Jimmy Mac got the job he said that he was definitely going to play me week in week out. 'I know what you are like, I have played against you. I've seen you in training and I am going to stick by you and put you in.' To be fair I think I have done alright since I have come in."

The result at Thistle combined with Queen of the South being held to a draw at Forthbank means that Dunfermline's efforts to leapfrog the Dumfries outfit will rely on the three remaining games and possibly, the very last match at home to Queens. They have 46 points, Dunfermline 45 and Partick Thistle 42 with a game in hand. Nipper agrees fourth place has to be the objective:-
"I said a couple of weeks ago when we got beat at home from Dundee - people saying you are more or less safe so you don't have much to play for - but we want to try and get fourth place, we want to make sure that we are in the next round of the cup because I think if you finish out of that, it is another round that you have got to play.
"Not just that. We were favourites for the league, let's not kid ourselves on we have had a very poor season by our standards. We want to make sure that the fans want to come back so if we keep picking up points, play with a bit of flair and give the fans something to come back for next season. That is what we need to do from now until the end of the season."
