Managers Post Livingston

Saturday, 1st Mar 2008

"We started with a good tempo but then once Livi scored we struggled in the first half. We didn't play with the same tempo that we have been playing with, we were a bit flat today.

Jim McIntyre gave his thoughts after the 1-1 draw with Livingston:-

"I didn't think that we did enough to win the game to be honest. We had good opportunities to score in the second half but my overall reflection is that we did not merit a win, a draw was a fair result.

"Stephen Simmons is going to hospital for an X ray because he is a bit concussed. We will find out more after an X ray.  I think it was his cheekbone. It was pretty innocuous, the boy caught him, I don't know what he caught him with, it was just one of those things."

Jim McIntyre felt that what he witnessed in the Livingston match could not be described as progress:-

"Not today. We didn't play as well.  We started with a good tempo but then once Livi scored we struggled in the first half.  We didn't play with the same tempo that we have been playing with, we were a bit flat today.

"Alex Burke did brilliantly.  He is well capable of that, you can see he is a footballing midfielder who likes to come and link the play and be clever on the ball.Burkie will get better and better - before he came here he said he had only played five games in a row in a year and a half.  He needs a run of games to get him up to that level again, but that will come.

"He is a very good footballer and it is only a matter of time before that happens week in week out."

Macca confirmed that Alex Burke's move to Dunfermline will be permanent with the on loan St Mirren player about to sign a pre contract agreement that will make him a Dunfermline man for the next two seasons.

The Manager had praise for 16 year old Paul Willis who came off the bench for the second successive match:-

"He is a good young kid who has shown well in training. That's why he is there."

Livingston Manager, Mark Proctor gave his reflections on how Dunfermline had changed since his team's last visit to Dunfermline:-

"We spoke about it before the game.Jim (McIntyre) has brought a feel good factor to the football club. There was a bit of a hostile period at the back end of Stephen Kenny's reign I am sure. Once we were in front the crowd were anxious and there was anxiety everywhere that gave us a bit of a lift and affected Dunfermline.

"We talked about today being a more difficult game.  Jim has got them playing with a smile on their face and is obviously trying to impose his personality upon the team. He is a young coach, as I am, and it takes a while.  It doesn't happen overnight to create your philosophy, the way you want to play, how you want to do it.

"It is early days for Jim.  His results have been good but I didn't think they were great today to be honest. We caught them on a bad day and the game was a little disjointed.  There seemed to be, dare I say, more togetherness.  When we came last time results were poor and there were a lot of anxious players about.I am pleased for Jim, he is a nice guy I spoke to him before the game and I hope he does well."
