Tame the Lions

Saturday, 1st Mar 2008

"They are a team of mixed results. They are quite capable of going and beating people 4-0 but can go out and get beat by the same score.

Captain Scott Wilson knows that games against Livingston can go either way but he is keen that Saturday's fixture is another step towards a much brighter future down the Halbeath Road. Scott says:-

"Over the years we have had highs and lows against Livingston. Both teams are in similar situations this season. Obviously they gave us a doing last time, getting beat 4-0 off anybody hurts and we are due them one. I think three points are more important than anything."

Livingston have played in eight matches this season when one side has scored four goals, they hit Ayr United for five but lost 5-2 to St Johnstone and inflicted  a 6-1 defeat on Morton. In full knowledge of these results Scott added:-

"They are a team of mixed results. They are quite capable of going and beating people 4-0 but can go out and get beat by the same score. At the start of the season they were like that week in, week out - destroying somebody and then getting destroyed themselves. They seem to have picked up a wee bit. It has been hard for them financially and it is the same for most teams in this division. They lost McMenamin to Dundee and it has been difficult for them.

"But it has been difficult here. The re-building process is starting here and it is going to take time."

Referees have not done Dunfermline many favours in the last few games and they will be hopeful of receiving better breaks from Saturday's whistler, Willie Collum. Scott chose his words with care:-

"They could have been better and obviously we can't say too much about referees. In the current climate they are getting a bit of stick but from our point of view we feel that it is just stick. We have been on the wrong side of a few bad decisions this year and I don't think that we have had many that have gone for us. Decisions have cost us points, points that we could have done with but they say that they have a hard job to do."

What has changed for Dunfermline since Jim McIntyre took over at the start of December?

"I think Stevie Crawford touched on it last week, we are creating a lot more chances whereas before we were creating nothing and didn't look like scoring. Now we are getting three or four decent chances in a game and so far we are managing to take quite a lot of them.

"Obviously management has changed and new ideas have been put in place. It has definitely helped us and since the gaffer has come in and taken over, if we had had that run of games over the season we would have been sitting near enough top of the league. You never know what would have happened what would have happened if there had a change of manager at the start. The past has gone now and it is about being positive for the future."
